Grief is something we all face at some point in life. It can feel heavy, confusing, and very lonely. But what if there was a gentle, creative way to work through those feelings—alongside others who understand?
That’s what the Grief Cafe Pottery Workshop at Boso Studio is all about.
What Is the Grief Cafe Pottery Workshop?
Held in the welcoming space of Boso Studio in London, this special workshop brings people together to explore grief through pottery and conversation. You don’t need any experience with clay. Just come as you are.
This isn’t about making perfect pots. It’s about using your hands and heart to connect—with the clay, with others, and with yourself.
Why Pottery?
There’s something healing about working with clay. You get to shape something real with your hands. You can press, pinch, smooth, or simply let the clay sit in your palm. This process can be calming, almost like a moving meditation.
Pottery also gives you space to express emotions without needing to say a word. If talking is hard, the clay speaks for you.

This event is being organised in collaboration with Creating Conversations. It is made possible with support from the National Lottery Community Fund.
A Safe, Social Space for Grief
Grief can be very isolating. Many people feel like they have to hide their sadness or “be strong.” But at the Grief Cafe, you’re not alone. Everyone in the room understands loss in some way.
There’s no pressure to talk. But if you want to share your story, there’s space for that too. People often find comfort just being around others who are on a similar path.
This shared experience creates a sense of community. You might not know each other at the start, but by the end, you’ve made something together—both in clay and in connection.
Why Boso Studio?
Located in the heart of London, Boso Studio is a quiet, cozy spot that makes you feel at home. It’s known for being a creative space that welcomes all kinds of people. The classes are small, maximum 6 students.
