About Our Classes:
- What types of pottery classes do you offer?
- We offer a variety of classes for all skill levels, including taster classes for beginners, wheel throwing courses and practice sessions, as well as workshops with guest potters.
- What is the typical class size?
- We pride ourselves in giving maximum attention to our students and classes are just 4 people.
- Can I bring children to the studio?
- Unfortunately at this time we are not able to accommodate children in our classes.
- Do I need any prior experience to take a class?
- For our taster and beginner classes you don’t need any experience. For our Clay Club you need experience and ability to work independently.
- What is included in the cost of a class?
- Everything! The cost of a class includes all the tools, all materials, glazing and firings.
- Do you offer private lessons?
- Yes! We offer private classes to suit your individual needs. This can be a special date with your loved one, one to one tuition on specific technique .
- Can I bring my own clay or glaze to use in your studio?
- To keep our kilns running safely, only clay and glazes from our studio can be used.
Collecting your pots
- When will my pots be ready?
- The pots you make in the class will take approx 4 weeks to dry, be glazed and fired. This depends on the weather, drying time and firing schedules.
- Can I collect my pots from the studio?
- Yes, your pots will be available for collection 4 weeks after your class. Please check out our collection times by clicking here
- What if I can’t come back to collect my pots?
- We’ll be happy to carefully package and ship your pots to you. There will be additional charge for this, £15 per 1 pot going to 1 address. If you have more than 1 pot going to different addresses, please complete separate shipping instructions, which you can find here.
Cancelling or rescheduling your class:
- What if I can no longer attend my class?
- We understand unexpected things happen and will do our best to accommodate changes. Please refer to our cancellation policy for details.
- Can I reschedule my Private Class to different day/time?
- You can reschedule your Private Class up to 7 days before the class. Rescheduling 7 days ahead of the class can be done once free of charge.
About Our Studio:
- Where is your studio?
- Our studio is located in characterful railway arch. We are ARCH D at Hackney Down Studios. Click here for map and transport links
- Do you offer drop in sessions/open studio time?
- Yes, we call it the Clay Club! These are untaught open pottery sessions, when you can drop in, use this time to finish your work, practice wheel throwing or work on your own project. Sessions need to be prebooked, as we have limited space in the studio.
Preparing for your class:
- What should I wear to class?
- We recommend wearing comfortable clothing and shoes that you don’t mind getting dirty. We provide aprons, but you may want to bring your own if you prefer.
- What if I have long nails/long hair?
- We recommend cutting your nails short before the class. If you have long hair please bring something to tie your hair back.
