Grief Cafe – Beginner Pottery Wheel Throwing Session
A small, relaxed pottery class specifically for Grief Cafe members, with some extra time after for informal social chats

Pottery is known to offer powerful benefits for mental health, grief therapy, and social interactions. The tactile, rhythmic nature of working with clay provides a calming, meditative effect that can reduce anxiety and promote mindfulness.
Here’s what you can expect:
- Small class: maximum of 6 participants
- 1.5 hours of hands-on learning: Get comfortable at the wheel, learn basic throwing techniques, and create your very own pottery pieces.
- Half an hour “social time” after the class: You can stay to chat, listen or help cleaning up, all up to you!
- All materials included: Clay, tools, and everything you need to create is provided – just bring your curiosity and creativity!
- Expert guidance: Our experienced teacher will provide personalized attention and answer all your questions, ensuring you feel confident and empowered.
- Keep or recycle your creations: The session is about the making experience, but if you would like to keep your pots, there is £5 charge for glazing and firing your pots in our kiln.

More than just learning a new skill:
Pottery allows to externalize emotions and process loss through creative expression, offering a non-verbal outlet for healing.
Pottery workshops also foster a sense of community, connection and reduce feelings of isolation. Through shared creativity, you can find support, purpose, and renewed emotional strength.
