Weekend Pottery Course (2 Saturdays) – Hackney, London
Looking for a pottery course in London that fits around a busy schedule? Our Weekend Pottery Course is designed for people who want to learn the fundamentals of ceramics without committing to a weekly class.
This course takes place over two consecutive Saturdays at our Hackney studio and delivers the same core learning as our popular 4-week course—condensed into two focused, hands-on sessions.
Our next weekend course dates:
18 April and 25 April 2026
Saturday 10.00 – 14.00

Who This Course Is For
This course is ideal if you:
- Have a busy weekday schedule
- Prefer immersive, fast-paced learning
- Are a complete beginner wanting a strong foundation
- Have tried pottery before and want to build confidence on the wheel
No prior experience is needed—just curiosity and a willingness to get your hands dirty.
What You’ll Learn
Across the two sessions, you’ll be guided step-by-step through the essential pottery techniques:
Day 1: Foundations of Wheel Throwing
- Introduction to clay and tools
- Clay preparation and wedging
- Centering clay on the wheel
- Throwing your first cylinders and simple forms
- Understanding common beginner mistakes (and how to fix them)
Day 2: Refining & Finishing
- Improving shape and consistency
- Trimming and refining your pieces
- Surface decoration techniques
- Adding handles and other decorating elements
By the end of the course, you’ll have created your own handmade ceramic pieces to keep.
Small Group Learning (Max 4 Students)
We keep our classes intentionally small—just 4 students per course—so you get:
- Plenty of one-to-one guidance
- A relaxed, supportive environment
- Time and space to learn at your own pace
This is not a crowded workshop. It’s a focused, high-quality learning experience.
Why Choose an Intensive Course?
Many of our students told us they couldn’t commit to weekly sessions. This course is built for exactly that.
Instead of spreading learning over a month, you’ll:
- Build skills quickly through immersion
- Retain more by practicing in close succession
- Leave with a solid understanding of the pottery wheel
It’s the most efficient way to get started with ceramics in London.
